This is my first of hopefully many posts documenting my travels, and I’m glad it starts with Paris!

We chose to do a Contiki tour for our Europe trip as it offered us a good taste of many of the European countries and cities on our bucket list. The tour we chose was the 21 day European Vista (Winter).

Getting There

After 30+ hours of flying, and another 8 hours on a Contiki bus, we arrived in Paris and got our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.

Things to Do

The next day, the tour took us up the Eiffel Tower. Even though it was winter, it was still packed with tourists. But the views were spectacular!

The afternoon was spent exploring Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle Cathedrals. Highly recommend Sainte Chappelle as its stained glass looks amazing! Also had a look around Champs Élysées (one of the most famous fashion streets in the world).

Spent the evening dining and watching a French Cabaret at the famous Moulin Rouge, and it was an interesting experience. Unfortunately, no photos allowed inside (for good reason!).

Travel Tip: Visit Europe in Winter. Much less queues.

Getting Around

We actually walked more than we took the metro, as we found it helped us see more.

The metro system took a bit of getting used to, and we found we had to refer to Google Maps a lot. Most of the station staff were spoke pretty good English, and were very helpful.

I recommend purchasing a 1 day, 3 day or 1 week pass, as you save quite a bit.

Finishing Thoughts

Loved the food, the culture and the sights in Paris. Since there is so much to do, I would recommend staying at least a week. Stay tuned for our next visit to Paris.

Next stop: Lucerne, Switzerland.
